Rolling Stone Interview with Brian Wilson

Rolling Stone Interview with Brian Wilson

Postby louis365 on Sun Feb 22, 2009 5:52 pm

Rolling Stone magazine
issue 1061 Sept. 18, 2008, p. 24
with Jason Fine interviewing

exerpt:

"But on the way, he changes his mind, pulls a U-turn in the middle of Mulholland and heads down Benedict Canyon because he feels like driving past the Bel-Air house where he lived in the '70s. As we pass Cielo Drive, I point out its where Charles Manson Family murdered the actress Sharon Tate in 1969. "My brother Dennis was friends with Manson" Wilson deadpans. "I don't think he had anything to do with it though"

>> Do I sense a bit of doubt there? Does Brian hold some doubt as to Dennis's innocence. Maybe, its at the back of his mind that if Dennis had never picked up Krenwinkel and Ella Jo Bailey, aka Yellerstone, Manson would not had been familiar with Cielo Drive and probably never met Melcher?.

its definately possible. it does sound like there is an element of doubt in his mind but it all depends on how he said it. he may have said it in a way that sounded like he wasn't doubtful at all that dennis had nothing to do with it. thats the problem with text, there is no way of knowing what tone of voice he said it in.
Brian has been through a lot mentally in his life too, and although he is doing great now i still think his mental stability should be taken into account. he was in a pretty bad way when the murders happened.

That's the understatement of the century, terrapin! His cocaine use has taken most of his better brain functions. I saw him in concert in '90 and they had to unplug the synthesizer he was playing on stage 'cause Brian wasn't even playing the right song. He wandered on and off stage with no purpose. Do not take ANYTHING that guy says as gospel. Also, at the time Dennis was in the midst of Charlie, Dennis wasn't really close to the rest of the BB gang...with his alcohol and drug use, he started straying away; so I doubt that Brian knew anything about anything about Charlie et al. Just my opinion for what it's worth...
